Stephen Goldsmith
Stephen Goldsmith is the Derek Bok Professor of the Practice of Urban Policy at Harvard Kennedy School’s Bloomberg Center for Cities. There he directs Data-Smart City Solutions, a project highlighting local government efforts in using data analytics, and the Project on Municipal Innovation, a platform for cities' staff to share best practices and policy ideas. Previously, Goldsmith was deputy mayor of New York City (2010-2011) and mayor of Indianapolis, Indiana (1991-1999). He has also been an advisor and consultant, chief domestic policy advisor to George W. Bush’s presidential campaign, chair of AmeriCorps and prosecutor for Marion County, Indiana, among other roles. Goldsmith has authored or co-authored several books on cities, including “Collaborative Cities: Mapping Solutions to Wicked Problems” and “Growing Fairly: How to Build Opportunity and Equity in Workforce Development.”
