Amollo Ambole is director of the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative at University of Cape Town’s African Center for Cities. In this role, she is responsible for strategic management with senior leadership and the AMALI advisory group. Ambole has guided the design and development of the AMALI initiative, beginning with a study to map city-support work in Africa, identifying a niche for a new city leadership support program, and supporting the African Center for Cities to stand up an implementation team and host the initiative. Previously, she was a principal investigator for projects on gender and energy security in poor, urban areas. Ambole was also a lecturer at University of Nairobi and an assistant lecturer in the design department at Maseno University.
