Anthony Townsend is a senior research associate at the Jacobs Urban Tech Hub at Cornell Tech, where he leads the development of multidisciplinary research collaborations that partner university researchers with stakeholders in industry, government and civil society. An expert on the future of cities and urban technology, Townsend is also founder and president of Star City Group International, a global consulting network of strategists and engineers who create and prototype urban technologies. Previous positions include research roles at NYU Graduate School of Public Service, the Data and Society Research Institute and the Institute for the Future. Townsend is the author of two books: “Ghost Road: Beyond the Driverless Car” and “Smart Cities: Big Data, Civic Hackers and the Quest for A New Utopia.”
