Berry Vrbanovic

Berry Vrbanovic is the mayor of Kitchener, a city in the Province of Ontario, Canada. He was first elected in 2014 and reelected in 2018 and 2022. He previously served on the Kitchener City Council for six terms, from 1999 to 2014. An immigrant whose family moved to Canada from Croatia when he was young, Vrbanovic understands the opportunities and challenges facing immigrants, and he believes in innovation and the power of collaboration as ways for local governments to change the world. He is currently co-president of United Cities and Local Governments and serves on Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) committees as well as its Big Cities Mayors’ Caucus. Vrbanovic was FCM president in 2011 and 2012 and previously served on its Green Municipal Fund Council.
