Darren is a 4A biology student at University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He is a Ugandan-born social entrepreneur, speaker, and author of the Darren Baine blog. Darren is the founder of The Young Eye Initiative, which represents the needs, interests, and aspirations of young people through the Young Eye Foundation, a non-profit focused on improving the livelihood of children in Uganda; the Young Eye International podcast, diving into captivating stories from people that shape our world; and Young and Restless, a youth networking initiative that provides space for young people to learn and connect over shared passions. Darren was the youngest person to be selected in the Uganda top 40 under 40 in 2021 at age 19.
