Violist with The String Queens

Dawn Johnson is a violist with The String Queens, a string trio imparting teaching strategies, first-hand experience, curriculum design, and pedagogy to arts teachers, schools, and students all over the world. A music educator, she has given masterclasses worldwide and been a soloist with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the New World Symphony, the Santa Fe Virtuosi, and the Ars Flores Chamber Orchestra. Previously, Johnson was a viola faculty member for the Killington Music Festival in Vermont and the DC Youth Orchestra Program in Washington, D.C. Her honors include the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Performing Arts Teaching in Washington, D.C., Peter Mennin Award in Music, and KIPP DC’s Executive Director Award.
