Enrique Penalosa is the author of “Equality and the City.” An urban thinker, he has advised governments and lectured in cities and universities worldwide. Previously, Penalosa was the mayor of Bogota from 1998 to 2000 and again from 2016 to 2019. In this role, he helped create a bus rapid transit system, bicycle ways and contracted Bogota’s first metro line. Penalosa also led the creation of greenways and parks, libraries and schools, and redevelopment of 33 hectares in the center of the city.
