Florence Namayanja is the mayor of Masaka City in Uganda, elected in 2021 and the only female city mayor in the country. Previously, she was a member of Uganda’s parliament, representing Bukoto County East in Masaka District for two terms from 2011 to 2021. Prior to that, Namayanja was deputy mayor of Kampala, Uganda’s capital city, from 2006 to 2011 and a councilor from 2001 to 2006. She has also worked at the Mulago School of Nursing and Kyambogo University, and earlier in her career was an administrator at the National Water and Sewage Corporation of Uganda. Namayanja is a member of the boards of the National Water and Sewage Corporation and Muteesa I Royal University.
