Sakaja Arthur Johnson is the governor of Nairobi City County, Kenya. Elected in 2022, his initiatives include a school meal program for over 300,000 students in public primary schools. Previously, Johnson was senator of Nairobi as a nominated member of the national assembly and ruling party from 2013 to 2017. In this role, he was chair of the standing committee on labor and social welfare and vice chair of the standing committee on national security, defense, and foreign relations. Johnson was also chair of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association. He has been named to Apolitica’s 2018 100 Future Leaders list of the world’s most influential young people in government and change maker of the year at the 2016 African Achievers Awards.
