Jennifer Pahlka is the author of Recoding America: Why Government is Failing in the Digital Age and How We Can Do Better. She is also the co-founder of United States Digital Response, which helps the government meet the needs of the public through volunteer tech support. Prior to this, Pahlka founded Code for America and led the organization as executive director and an advisor for ten years. In 2013, she served as U.S. deputy chief technology officer under President Obama and helped found the United States Digital Service. Previously, Pahlka served on the Defense Innovation Board under President Obama and then President Trump. Her recognition includes the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship and being named one of Wired’s 25 people who has most shaped the past 25 years.
