John Giles is the mayor of Mesa, AZ, first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2016 and 2020. Leader of the Mesa College Promise providing qualified high school graduates with a free community college education, he passed a city nondiscrimination ordinance. established Mesa’s Education and Workforce Roundtable, and led the adoption of a Climate Action Plan. A member of the Arizona Mayors Education Roundtable, Giles is chair and a trustee of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Immigration Task Force. He is also co-chair of Mayors and CEOs for U.S. Housing Investment, chair of the Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger, and a member of the Accelerator for America Advisory Council. Giles is the creator and host of the “It’s Always Cool in Mesa” podcast.
