Juhana Vartiainen

Juhana Vartiainen is the mayor of Helsinki, leading the city’s efforts to eliminate homelessness by 2025 and become carbon neutral by 2030. Prior to this, he was a member of the Finnish parliament representing the National Coalition Party for six years and chairing the Commerce Committee for two years. With research focused on management policy, labor markets, and the gender pay gap, Vartiainen was previously director general of the VATT Institute for Economic Research from 2012 to 2015 and director of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation's Economic Research Institute from 2003 to 2005. Earlier in his career, he was the head of research at the National Institute of Economic Research in Sweden.
