Lourdes Castro Ramírez is the chief housing and homelessness solutions officer for the City of Los Angeles, in the mayor’s office. She was previously a member of Governor Newsom’s cabinet as secretary of California’s Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency. Prior to this, Castro Ramírez was president of the University Health System Foundation in Texas; principal deputy assistant secretary in President Obama’s Housing and Urban Development, leading the Office of Public and Indian Housing; president and CEO of the San Antonio (Texas) Housing Authority; and a director in the Los Angeles Housing Authority overseeing rental assistance and resident development programs. A member of the UCLA Luskin Public Affairs Advisory Board, her honors include the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame and the 2020 Ray of HOPE Award from Hispanas Organized for Political Equality.
