Marília Ortiz is finance secretary for the city of Niterói, Brazil, since 2020. She is also president of the governance committee of the Revenue Equalization Fund, which is formed by oil royalties and currently amounts to 1 billion reais, and participates in the Forum for Sovereign Wealth Funds, which includes other states and municipalities of Brazil. Ortiz has been working in the local public sector for 15 years in different projects and positions, with a focus on transparency, participation, planning and budget. She was previously undersecretary of planning of Niterói, a city of over 515,000 that is part of the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and government and postgraduate degree in public finances and auditing.
