Matt Thompson is the editor of Headway, a journalism initiative of The New York Times investigating global and national challenges. Previously, he was editor in chief of Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting. Prior to this, Thompson was executive editor at The Atlantic and, for NPR, worked with public radio stations on editorial strategy and co-authored the organization’s ethics handbook. Earlier in his career, he was an editor and reporter for The Minneapolis Star Tribune, The Fresno Bee, and Poynter Institute. A founder of Spark Camp, Thompson is a board member of The Texas Tribune.
