Mitch Landrieu is a senior advisor to President Biden and infrastructure coordinator at the White House. A former two-term mayor of New Orleans, he led the recovery from Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill and the removal of four Confederate monuments, for which he received the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Landrieu is also the founder of the racial- and economic-equity initiative E Pluribus Unum. He previously served two terms as lieutenant governor of Louisiana and 16 years as a state legislator. Landrieu is the author of In the Shadow of Statues: A White Southerner Confronts History. A past president of the US Conference of Mayors, he was named the 2015 Governing Magazine Public Official of the Year; in a 2016 Politico survey of mayors, Landrieu was voted America’s Top Turnaround Mayor.
