Richard L. Menschel Professor of Management Practice at Harvard School of Business

Mitch Weiss is the Richard L. Menschel Professor of Management Practice at Business School and a faculty affiliate of the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard. There, he created and teaches the public entrepreneurship course on public leaders and private entrepreneurs who invent a difference in the world. Weiss also teaches the entrepreneurial manager course in the first year of Harvard’s MBA program. Prior to this, he was chief of staff and a partner to former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. In this role, Weiss helped shape New Urban Mechanics, Boston’s municipal innovation strategy, and make it a model for peer-produced government and change. He is the author of We the Possibility: Harnessing Public Entrepreneurship to Solve Our Most Urgent Problems. Weiss’s recognition includes being named one of the 100 most influential academics in government by Apolitical.
