Adam Freed is a principal at Bloomberg Associates, leading its sustainability practice and working with mayors to craft and implement sustainability strategies and actions. Prior to this, he was deputy managing director of The Nature Conservancy’s global water program. From 2008 to 2012, Freed helped lead New York City’s sustainability efforts as acting and deputy director of the Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability. He was also a senior policy advisor for climate change adaptation in the mayor’s office and, before that, an assistant comptroller for New York State, where he led the review of large-scale economic development projects. Freed is also a lecturer at Columbia University, teaching graduate classes including one on using data to solve sustainability challenges. He’s a member of the New York City Water Board and the Friends of Governors Island board.
