André Sayegh is the mayor of Paterson, the third-largest city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, since 2018. Focused on stabilizing property taxes, improving public safety and driving economic development, he continues to make improving public parks a priority. Sayegh served on the Paterson City Council from 2008 to 2018, where he helped establish a more business-friendly and family-friendly city. Prior to that, he was on the Paterson Board of Education, chief of staff for a state senator and a field representative for a New Jersey congressman. Sayegh remains an adjunct professor at Passaic County Community College, where he has taught for 19 years and was previously director of job readiness and customized training. He earned his master’s degree in public policy and administration from Columbia University.
