Anthony Roth Contanzo

Anthony Roth Costanzo is the general director and president of Opera Philadelphia and the artistic director of SongStudio at Carnegie Hall. He is also a Grammy Award-winning countertenor who has appeared with many of the world’s leading opera companies and orchestras — in opera, concert, recital, and film, as well as on Broadway — at renowned venues around the globe. As a producer, he has created projects for the Paris Opera and the New York Philharmonic, among others. Costanzo is on the board of trustees at Manhattan School of Music and also serves on the board of National Black Theatre. A winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s Operalia competition, Costanzo also has an honorary doctorate from Manhattan School of Music and a History Makers Award from the New York Historical. He has been a visiting fellow at Oxford University and a distinguished visiting scholar at Harvard University.
