Dan Porterfield has served as President and CEO of the Aspen Institute since 2018 and was recently named incoming CEO of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. Porterfield previously served as President of Franklin & Marshall College, Senior Vice President for Strategic Development and professor of English at Georgetown University, and communications director and chief speechwriter for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He was named a White House Champion of Change in 2016 and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Council on Foreign Relations. He earned degrees from Georgetown, Oxford, and The City University of New York Graduate Center.
