Douglas Wood is director of the Criminal Justice Reform Initiative at the Aspen Institute. Previously, he was a program officer at the Ford Foundation on the youth opportunity and learning team and acting lead of the foundation’s global Higher Education for Social Justice Initiative, managing and funding grants focused on criminal justice reform. Prior to this, Wood was associate dean at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, The New School. Before that, he was executive director and principal investigator of the National Academy for Excellent Teaching at Teachers College of Columbia University. Earlier in his career, Wood was executive director and chief education officer of the Tennessee State Board of Education. A board member of the Partnership for College Completion, his recognition includes the 2018 Alumni Council Award for Outstanding Contributions to Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
