Founder and Chef of Dine on a Mat and Fulani Kitchen Foundation

Fatmata Binta is a chef who features the cuisine of her nomadic Fulani heritage of West and Central Africa. She is also the founder of Dine on a Mat immersive culinary experience and Fulani Kitchen Foundation, promoting food security and empowering women. Binta is a United Nations ambassador for responsible tourism. And, together with the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, she announced a 2024 project providing training to 100 women in Ghana involved in fonio cultivation to enhance their skills and increase their productivity and income. Also this year, Binta partnered with the World Bank for the Taste of Change Instagram series. Her recognition includes the 2021 Best Chef Rising Star Award and 2022 Basque Culinary World Prize.
