Florence Namayanja is the only female city mayor in Uganda. Her public service spans roles at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation and various university and school boards. She is active in local government networks, including the Urban Authorities Association of Uganda and the East African Local Government Association, and serves as the regional coordinator for the National Unity Platform (NUP) political party. Previously, she served as deputy mayor of Kampala City Council and was a member of Parliament for the Bukoto East constituency from 2011 to 2021, where she contributed to key oversight committees and supported women’s political participation.
