Managing Director of Community Violence Initiatives at Roca Impact Institute
James Timpson is the managing director of community violence initiatives at Roca Impact Institute. He oversees and scales its training and coaching initiatives with community violence intervention programs across the country, cultivates strategic partnerships, and fosters national visibility for RMI’s individual behavior and systems change strategy. Previously, Timpson was a founding director of Roca Baltimore. He is a Baltimore Mayor’s Cabinet for Boys and Young Men of Color committee member as well as an advisor to Johns Hopkins Innovation Fund and Johns Hopkins University Accountability Board Selection Committee. A two-time panelist on gun violence for the Amnesty International annual general meeting, Timpson was named Amnesty’s 2021 Hometown Hero for Gun Violence.
