Leah Pattem
Journalist and Founder of Madrid No Frills
Madrid, Spain
Leah Pattem is a Madrid-based, multi-award-winning journalist, photographer, and filmmaker with over a decade of experience covering underreported stories in the city. Her work spans in-depth investigations and breaking news across Spain, Europe, and the United Kingdom. In 2016, she founded Madrid No Frills, a widely recognised local journalism platform documenting the city’s social issues, grassroots movements, and evolving identity. The project has a readership of half a million people per month, and remains dedicated to telling the stories that define Madrid today — particularly those of marginalised and displaced communities. Alongside her reporting, Leah is a professor of journalism at Saint Louis University in Madrid, bringing her nearly two decades of teaching experience to the next generation of storytellers.
