Mauricio Zunino is the mayor of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, since July 2024. His leadership is focused on promoting sustainable urban development, enhancing energy efficiency and improving public services. Previously, he was deputy mayor and director of financial resources for Montevideo, responsible for managing the city’s budget and financial strategies. Zunino is also an adjunct professor at the University of the Republic in the faculties of economics and law. He previously worked as an economist in Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining and as an economic analyst at the National Institute of Statistic. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in local development at CLAEH University (the Latin American Center for Human Economy).
