Meron Knikman is the Secretary of the Office, for Minister Elke Van den Brandt in the Brussels Capital Region Government. This Office is responsible for mobility, public works and road safety. Knikman has been a key person in achieving and negotiating for many accomplishments in various political realities. The 30km/h zone, 50km of new bike lanes and a raise to almost 42% of bikers being women, further guaranteeing more than 25% of the Brussels budget for mobility and currently executing the Region’s mobility plan known as Good Move. Knikman is also the President of Vrouwenraad (umbrella of feminist organisations), a strong name in intersectional feminism and gender rights and a reference for Belgian feminism. She has countless experiences leading high level negotiations in varying roles, has led several political campaigns and is a board member of Schaarbeekse Haard (Social Housing Company of Brussels) for Groen.
