Pep Avilés is the Barcelona office associate director of Herzog & de Meuron, an international architecture practice. Herzog & de Meuron has established itself internationally with projects such as the Tate Modern in London, the National Stadium in Beijing, M+ Museum for Visual Culture in Hong Kong, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and the University Children’s Hospital in Zurich. Avilés is also an associate professor at Penn State University and a 2026 Serra Húnter Fellow. His work has been exhibited at the Oslo Architecture Triennale, the Venice Biennial, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, and has received grants and fellowships from the Graham Foundation, the Getty Research Center, and the Canadian Center for Architecture in Montreal, among others.
