Randall Woodfin is the mayor of Birmingham, AL., elected to his second term in 2021. In revitalizing the city’s neighborhoods, he is focused on enhancing education for young people, economic opportunity for all residents, and public-private partnerships. Initiatives include providing apprenticeships and tuition assistance for high school graduates, the renovation and expansion of Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, and offering a second chance and removing employment-opportunity barriers through the pardon of 15,000 misdemeanor, marijuana-possession charges dating to 1990. Previously, Woodfin was president of the Birmingham Board of Education. He is a graduate of Morehouse College and Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
