Sakaja Arthur Johnson is the governor of Nairobi City County, the capital of Kenya. Since he was elected in August 2022, he has led multiple initiatives to restore environmental health in Nairobi, including efforts to improve air quality, rehabilitate rivers, manage waste, and expand green spaces and parks. Johnson is the immediate former senator of Nairobi and previously served as a nominated member of the National Assembly and chairperson of the ruling party. During his tenure in Parliament, he served as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare and vice chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Foreign Relations.
