Sander van der Waal is research director at Waag Futurelab, focused on the research, design, and development of a sustainable, just society. Responsible for research agenda, he collaborates with the research groups Make, Learn, Code, and Life, as well as the managers of the 10 constituent research labs. Van der Waal maintains and develops a network of research partners and represents the lab in debates, events, and webinars. He has an educational background in computer science and philosophy and has expertise and experience in open-source software development, open data and knowledge, and data infrastructures.
