Umberto Fugiglando is a research manager and partnerships lead at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Senseable City Lab, a multidisciplinary research group studying the interface between cities, people, and technologies. He leads and manages multi-stakeholder research projects on data science applied to urban technology initiatives and oversees global development of the lab’s research agenda through partnerships between cities, companies, and foundations. Additionally, Fugiglando is co-founder of ReFuse, a social enterprise based in Lebanon working to improve the well-being of communities exposed to waste hazards. His background is in applied mathematics and engineering, and he has studied in Italy, Sweden, Canada, and the United States.
