WHO Special Envoy for the European Region

Vytenis Andriukaitis is a special envoy of the World Health Organization for Universal Health Coverage, European region and a UHC 2030 political advisory panel member. Prior to this, he was European commissioner for health and food safety from 2014 to 2019. Previously, Andriukaitis was Lithuania's minister for health and, before that, a six-term member of the Lithuanian parliament. He is a co-author and a signatory of the Lithuania Independence Act and co-author of the Republic of Lithuania Constitution. A founder and honorary chair of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, Andriukaitis has written over 140 national and EU legislative proposals and amendments. The author of multiple articles and books, he is a practicing surgeon specializing in cardiovascular surgery.
