Pete Buttigieg is secretary of the United States Department of Transportation. In this role, he has prioritized the development and passage of President Biden’s infrastructure plan and delivering its investments to improve U.S. transportation. Previously, Buttigieg was mayor of South Bend, IN, for two terms. He also served as an officer for seven years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, taking a leave of absence from the mayor’s office for a deployment to Afghanistan in 2014.
