Queen Omagano Kamati

Queen Omagano Kamati is mayor of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Elected in December 2023, she focuses on smart urban planning, infrastructure development and community well-being, with a commitment to youth engagement and implementing the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals at the local level. Kamati was a Windhoek city councilor from December 2020 to January 2024. Prior to that, she was personal assistant to the deputy minister of labor of Namibia. Her political journey began in 2006 with the SWAPO Party, where she has held several key roles over the year. Kamati’s career also includes positions at the Development Bank of Namibia. She is pursuing a postgraduate diploma in project management with Stellenbosch Business School.
