Executive Director of Friends of Anacostia Park

Richard Trent is the executive director of Friends of Anacostia Park. He works with the National Park Service to ensure that Washington, DC's Ward 7 and Ward 8 residents steer the park’s redevelopment effort. Prior to this, Trent was the chief development officer of the National Winter Activity Center, connecting youth from under-resourced communities with outdoor recreation opportunities. Previously, he worked with Friends of Island Academy securing resources for the campaign that ended Rikers Island youth incarceration. Earlier in his career, Trent was director of development at Reach Out and Read of Greater New York and helped Higher Achievement expand its middle school, extended-learning programming to Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Richmond, VA.
