Sara Nelson is the president of Seattle City Council and chair of its governance, accountability, and economic development committee. Previously, she was a Seattle City Council legislative aide from 2002 to 2013 and co-founded Fremont Brewing. Earlier in her career, Nelson earned a doctorate and then was a lecturer at University of Washington. There, she taught anthropology, women studies, and international studies courses.
