Sybel Galván Gómez

Permanent Representative of Mexico to the OECD

Sybel Galván Gómez is Mexico’s permanent representative to the OECD ( Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), since 2019, and dean of the Council, OECD’s decision-making body. She has promoted the gender-equality agenda across the organization and more representation for Latin America in its governance. Previously, Galván was director general of analysis and statistics at CONSAR, Mexico’s commission of the retirement savings system. Before that, she was counselor for economic, financial and fiscal affairs for Mexico at OECD and held positions at México’s central bank, including head of the department on financial credits markets. Galván began her career as advisor to the vice minister of public revenue at the Mexico Ministry of Finance, where she was involved in Mexican central bank autonomy and in customs surveillance.
