Toni Griffin is professor in practice of urban planning at Harvard Graduate School of Design. She leads Just City Lab, a research platform developing values-based planning methodologies and tools for evaluating public life and urban justice in public plazas. Griffin is also the founder of urbanAC, leading design and planning projects in cities with histories of spatial and social injustice. Previously, she was a professor of architecture and director of the J. Max Bond Center on Design for the Just City at City College of New York’s Spitzer School of Architecture. Griffin’s past  public-sector positions include director of community development for the City of Newark, NJ, and vice president and director of design for Anacostia Waterfront Corporation in Washington, D.C. She has lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, and South America and published articles on design, urban justice, legacy cities and Detroit. Griffin is a member of the U.S. Commission on Fine Arts, appointed by President Obama In 2016.
