Founder and Creative Director of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism

Vishaan Chakrabarti is the founder and creative director of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism. He leads the firm’s global portfolio of cultural, institutional, and public projects including the expansion of Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Brooklyn’s Domino Sugar Refinery, and Philadelphia’s Schuylkill Yards. Chakrabarti is also the collaborating architect on JP Morgan Chase’s world headquarters. Previously, he was the William W. Wurster Dean of the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley and, before that, a professor at Columbia University for a decade. The author of A Country of Cities: A Manifesto for an Urban America, Chakrabarti is working on a second book titled The Architecture of Urbanity: Designing Cities for Pluralism and Planet.
